New Avatar footage screened as sequel is nearly finished
All-new scenes from the upcoming Avatar: The Way of Water have been screened and the film is reportedly in the final stages of post-production.
Director James Cameron’s upcoming sci-fi sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, is due out later this year, taking audiences back to the exotic alien world of Pandora. The film and three additional entries in the series have been in development for years, with the original Avatar released back in 2009.
As the months tick away and the movie’s much-anticipated release date appears on the horizon, new footage from Avatar: The Way of Water has been screened at the film industry event, CineEurope. According to Deadline, those in attendance were treated to four never-before-seen scenes from the sequel, with producer Jon Landau revealing that Avatar: The Way of Water was now in the final stages of post-production.
Landau also appeared as a guest at this year’s LEGO CON, where he was part of the unveiling of the new LEGO Avatar theme. So far the LEGO Group has only announced one set based around the original film, with 75774 Toruk Makto & Tree of Souls due for release on October 1 for £129.99 / $149.99 / €149.99.
