New version of LEGO Ferrari Daytona SP3 The Sense of Perfection book out now

The LEGO Group has launched a non-limited version of its Ferrari Daytona SP3 The Sense of Perfection book, making the sold-out title more accessible for Technic fans.

Only 5,000 numbered copies of the limited-edition title were released in June, alongside 42143 Ferrari Daytona SP3, and – predictably – all sold through almost immediately. Those of us not swift-fingered enough to bag one instantly were left high and dry, with the book’s design secrets and stories seemingly walled off forever.

It turns out the LEGO Group wasn’t content to let The Sense of Perfection remain so exclusive forever, however, as it’s now debuted a brand new non-limited version at LEGO.com. It’s also a bit cheaper than the original book, at £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99 (compared to the limited-edition’s RRP of £69.99 / $79.99 / €79.99).

You won’t find any numbering on this one, though – nor will you get a funky slipcase. Instead, the 240-page book is bound with a glossy hardcover, so early investors still have a reason to feel good about handing over their hard-earned cash in June – while the rest of us can now dive into the creative process behind bringing a Technic set to life all the same.

Packed with design secrets, production stories and even input from third-generation LEGO Group owner Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, The Sense of Perfection offers a unique and fascinating peek into how the LEGO Group and Ferrari collaborated to bring 42143 Ferrari Daytona SP3 to life. I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.

It’s already sold out on the US site. Limit Exceeded is the message on the page.
