Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader LEGO BrickHeadz command high prices on Ebay

Ahead of their official launch, the latest LEGO Star Wars BrickHeadz pairing of Jedi masters are available at inflated prices on the secondary market.

Last week’s Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim saw a number of new LEGO sets announced including, as part of the razzamatazz around the launch of new Disney+ show, Obi-Wan Kenobi, a new pair of BrickHeadz. The set, LEGO Star Wars 40547 Obi-Wan Kenobi & Darth Vader, features the Ewan McGregor incarnation of the titular Obi-Wan, and his old nemesis / Padawan, Darth Vader.

The lightsaber-wielding duo will be available from LEGO.com, and no doubt all good retailers, soon, but for many, getting them early is all part of the fun. As such, a number have sprung up on Ebay at prices ranging from the reasonable to the wildly optimistic. Almost all images of the set have the “Got it here first!” wrapper indicating that they were bought at the Anaheim event which also means that the sets are all shipping from the USA.

One buyer, who seems to be letting the market dictate the price has, at the time of writing, nine bids and a current price of £16.25 which is less than the £17.99 RRP of the set at LEGO.com. A good number of sellers are offering the set in the £50 – £70 range while a handful are asking three-figures for the set, with one wanting an eye-watering £158. With 260 pieces in the set, that’s a mind-boggling 60p per piece!

Some sets have been selling, even at these prices, but it’s safe to say that prices will come tumbling down once the set goes on general release.
