Official images of LEGO 40416 Ice Skating Rink revealed

The LEGO Group has revealed official images of next month’s gift with purchase, 40416 Ice Skating Rink.

The LEGO Christmas set will be free with LEGO.com orders of $150 or more from December 1 through December 24, or while stocks last. The UK threshold hasn’t been announced yet, but based on recent promos, it’s safe to assume it will be £150.

Official images of the freebie have now appeared online, showing off the splat gear mechanism that allows both the included minifigures to ‘skate’ around the vignette. It’s a suitably festive scene for the Christmas season, and should make a great addition to any Winter Village layout.

For VIPs, there will also be a free gift wrapping set with orders totalling $40, running from December 1 through December 15. Both offers will stack during that window, so you can bag double freebies with a $150 spend.

Today is Cyber Monday at LEGO.com, and there are plenty of deals still to be had. As well as 20% off selected sets, you can bag a free 40410 Charles Dickens Tribute, worth £20.99 / $20.99, with a £150 / $150 spend. All the deals will run until the end of today, or while stock lasts.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
