Oh no, LEGO is doubling down on its tin signs

The LEGO Group is celebrating 10 years of Friends with a range of brand new VIP rewards – including another promotional tin sign.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of LEGO Friends, the mini-doll theme designed first and foremost for girls (although it’s since found favour with a much wider demographic). To celebrate, the LEGO Group has added a bunch of new Friends-inspired items to the VIP Rewards Centre, where you can spend your hard-earned points on things like LEGO House tickets, a greeting card, and… a tin sign.

If you were around for Black Friday last year, you’ll know this isn’t the company’s first tin sign. That honour belongs to the retro biscuit tin lid (which is basically all it amounted to) that was given away across LEGO VIP Weekend and Black Friday in 2021 with a £250 / $250 / €250 spend. We had some thoughts about that at the time, and they weren’t necessarily positive.

But hey, now you don’t need to spend an eye-watering amount of money on LEGO to get a bit of tat posted through your door: you can instead spend actual VIP points on it. The Friends-themed tin sign requires 1,200 points to redeem, which is equivalent to around £7.50 in discount vouchers (and will have required spending £150 to amass).

According to the LEGO Group’s marketing spiel, the 30x15cm tin sign is ‘guaranteed to make your own BFFs envious’. Of what, we’re not quite sure. Your obviously overflowing stash of VIP points that enabled you to waste some on this? Maybe. In any case, if for some reason you do want a bit of decorated tin – it’s hard to think what could better appeal to Friends’ primary target audience – you can claim yours in the VIP Rewards Centre now.

Also available alongside the sign are three more Friends-specific rewards, including a personalised LEGO greeting card (600 points), tickets to the LEGO House (2,500 points), and the chance to win a signed copy of 41703 Friendship Tree House (50 points per entry). Head over to the VIP Rewards Centre to check those out.

For a more immediate Friends fix, US-based fans can currently cop 30416 Market Stall for free with a $40 spend on LEGO Friends sets online and in-store. You’ll also get double VIP points on 41702 Canal Houseboat throughout February.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.

Bruh we get it, you don’t like it. I think it’s kinda neat, and nobody is forcing you to buy it.
