Official opening date announced for Ireland’s first LEGO store

The LEGO Group is opening a new location in Dublin next month to finally give Irish LEGO enthusiasts a flagship store of their very own.

The Grafton Street store will open its doors on August 8. The LEGO Group had hoped to have the location up and running earlier, but delays were encountered after Dublin Council challenged aspects of the planning application.

After working around the council’s objections, the LEGO Group is still confident that it can deliver a ‘retailtainment’ experience similar to that offered by its stores in Barcelona and New York.

This will be done through interactive elements such as Minifigure Studio, Minifigure Expression, and a ‘hands-on’ play area. As you would expect from a flagship store, there will also be impressive product displays and a vast selection of LEGO pieces available from the Pick-a-Brick wall.

With this being Ireland’s first official LEGO store, a team of LEGO builders has been busy producing some breathtaking 3D models depicting Irish culture alongside famous Dublin landmarks, including the Poolbeg Chimneys.

Simone Sweeney, Vice President of Global LEGO Retail Development shared her excitement regarding the store opening when speaking with RTE earlier this year:

“We have been looking for the perfect site in Dublin, so we were very excited when the opportunity came about to open on the vibrant Grafton Street. The city has been part of LEGO Retail’s expansion strategy for many years given the existing huge number of LEGO Fans in Ireland and the international customers typically found in the city.”

The store can be found at 41 Grafton Street, in the epicentre of Dublin’s main shopping district.
