Predicting the LEGO Ideas 2024 set lineup

Rumours for LEGO Ideas sets in the second half of 2024 might offer an idea of what to expect, so long as we can match approved projects to them.

Recent rumours for LEGO Ideas include some that have projects reported to be attached to them, and three that are unnamed at the time of writing. These rumours still include piece counts and release windows, giving us some information to go on.

Since LEGO Ideas projects are submitted and approved publically before they become official sets, we know exactly what is coming to the theme eventually. This includes two models that were approved

It's reported that three unnamed models are due in 2024 alongside the rumoured 21348 Dungeons & Dragons and 21349 Cat. That's as well as 21345 Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera, 21346 Family Tree and 21347 Red London Telephone Box. Two of the five remaining upcoming LEGO Ideas sets (that aren't going to be a gift-with-purchase) were only approved in December, so it may be too much to expect their development to conclude within a few months. That leaves three projects for three rumoured sets.

Pieces: 1,497 Release date: August 2024

2024 is a great time for the upcoming LEGO Jaws set as the year falls on two key anniversaries – the release of the original book in February and the year that filming began in May. The rumoured August release window for 21350 would come in after both of these anniversary dates and the original submission could be contained within the reported 1,497 pieces, especially if the designers opt to use the larger specialised shark piece instead of a brick-built recreation.

Pieces: 2,193 Release date: September 2024

The original LEGO Ideas Nightmare Before Christmas submission that will inspire the official set features 2,000 pieces but it's not unlike LEGO Ideas sets to get bigger as their design is finalised. Admittedly, the set rumoured for October would be a better fit for this submission but its piece count is only just over 1,103 elements. Considering that, the September slot could work best, allowing the set to be available and purchased before the Halloween season begins and without cutting back on any parts of the impressive submission.

Pieces: 1,103 Release date: October 2024

While its exact piece is not clarified, the winning Disney Magic LEGO Ideas project was in a challenge where submissions had to be a maximum of 800 elements. Considering that, 21352's rumoured 1,103 part count could be a great fit with some upgrades made to it. It's worth noting that October will be the 101st anniversary of Disney too. It's intended to celebrate the 100th anniversary, but it was never going to be able to make that date so it might as well be exactly one year late.
