The RDA is underrepresented in LEGO Avatar’s current sets

LEGO Avatar has been available for almost a month now and the theme may have underrepresented the RDA for a reason.

Released three weeks on October 1, 2022, LEGO Avatar’s five minifigure-scale sets consist of mostly natural models for the inhabitants of Pandora. However, the James Cameron film also features the technology-focused RDA – a faction that is represented with an AMP suit, an SA-2 Samson, a portable base and a few minifigures in 75571 Neytiri & Thanator vs. AMP Suit Quaritch and 75573 Floating Mountains: Site 26 & RDA Samson.

While the RDA is featured in half of the wave, their contents compared to the animals and scenery of Pandora and the Na’vi minifigures showcase just how outnumbered they are, matching the outcome of the movie.

Though the victory was hard-won, through uniting the various tribes of Pandora, the Na’vi pushed back the humans and kick them off their planet, at least temporarily as evidenced by trailers for the sequel. The diminished presence of RDA in LEGO sets could be reflective of the film’s ending, with the designers choosing to focus on the beauty of Pandora’s natural world instead.

It could also be that the scenes from Avatar selected to receive the LEGO treatment didn’t line up with opportunities to include some of the other, and bigger, RDA vehicles

Listings for more LEGO Avatar sets may present an opportunity for further RDA representation in the theme, but nothing has been officially announced.
