Rumoured 2023 LEGO Disneyland castle could scale with 71040 The Disney Castle

A rumoured LEGO Disney 2023 set list includes a potential Disneyland castle set with a reported price point in scale with 71040 The Disney Castle. 

According to Promobricks, a set with the number 43225 is planned for 2023 with a price tag of $159.99. It’s believed that this could be a castle and while 71040 The Disney Castle, recreating Walt Disney World’s castle, is retiring at the end of 2022, the 100th anniversary of Disney might be a more appropriate time for a Disneyland castle model as it was the first of the theme parks to open.

71040 The Disney Castle is available now for £309.99 / $349.99 / €349.99 with 4,080 pieces. The reported price tag of $159.99 comes in at around half of that price and a corresponding piece count would likely be similarly halved.

A LEGO Disneyland castle model in scale with 71040 The Disney Castle at around half the size would be accurate to real life as the Disneyland castle is 77 feet tall and the Walt Disney World castle is 197 feet tall. 

A scaled build would need to keep the parts count around 2,000 pieces but as TJJohn12 points out, that’s entirely possible while keeping crucial details of the castle. Their depiction uses just short of 2,000 elements and is to scale with 71040 The Disney Castle to boot.

We’ll have to wait and see if a second massive Disney Castle model is in the future of LEGO Disney, but the reported price tag suggests that it may be time for the Disneyland icon to get a set, and what better occasion than the 100th anniversary of Disney to recreate the original castle.
