Rumoured LEGO Star Wars 2023 piece counts point to biggest helmet yet

A tentative list of piece counts for next year’s LEGO Star Wars line-up suggests the rumoured Captain Rex helmet will be the theme’s biggest bucket yet.

The LEGO Star Wars Helmet Collection so far tops out in size with 75304 Darth Vader Helmet, which arrived in 2021 with 834 pieces in the box. But according to Promobricks, the rumoured 75349 Captain Rex (Phase II) Helmet will include 854 pieces – or 20 more than the Sith Lord. It’s still set to retail for €69.99 in Europe, though, or €10 less than Vader’s helmet.

The also-rumoured 75350 Commander Cody (Phase I) Helmet is said to include 766 pieces, meanwhile, which would make it the third-largest helmet behind Vader and Rex. That’s by piece count only, of course – the actual dimensions of these helmets are an unknown quantity at this stage (and also depend on them existing in the first place).

Piece counts across the rest of the 2023 wave so far seem to align roughly with their rumoured prices, with perhaps the exception of 75353 Endor Speeder Bike Chase Diorama, which Promobricks claims includes 608 pieces for €79.99. That said, price-per-piece has never been the best indicator of value – the sheer volume of plastic is a better benchmark – so it’s too early to say whether that price feels abnormally high.
