Following an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, LEGO 10294 Titanic – one of the biggest and most expensive sets to ever officially release – has now been featured on Saturday Night Live. The 9,090 piece model was revealed earlier in the month as a massive recreation of the iconic ship, which can even be split into sections to view the cross-sections and interior.
Hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che mentioned the model as part of the latest Saturday Night Live Weekend Update sketch, which parodies and comments on relevant news stories from the last week.
Featuring at the very end of the video, 10294 Titanic is named as the biggest set from the LEGO Group, which may only be true when not considering the 9,090 piece count, which falls short of LEGO Art 31203 World Map.
The punchline of the joke mentions that hundreds of of the 9,090 pieces come in the form of frozen Irish minifigures. Whilst no minifigures are included in the microscale recreation, the model does pay homage to the engineering icon through a functional design that even includes a reference to an ex-designer who pitched a recreation of the ship before leaving the LEGO group.
LEGO for Adults 10294 Titanic will release on November 8 for £569.99 / $629.99 / €629.99, with pre-orders beginning on November 1. For more information, check out our full gallery of images to see every miniature detail.
