Second 2023 LEGO Ideas review gains its first project

LEGO Ideas’ second 2023 review officially has its first project as a huge train starts up another selection of fan-designed projects.

Recreating one of the world’s biggest steam trains, Lassehfl is back after their initial Union Pacific project was rejected in the third 2021 review phase. Their new submission is much the same as their first, but with 4016 numbering to reflect the Union Pacific “Big Boy” no. 4014 instead of 4006.

Many of the original details carry over including the interior spaces but as pointed out in the description, the intent of the model is to offer an 18+ LEGO train model following the retirement of 10277 Crocodile Locomotive that isn’t as large as 76405 Hogwarts Express – Collectors’ Edition.

Whether the second 2023 review can top the first’s record-breaking total of 71 projects has yet to be confirmed. Here’s a look at every project in the second 2023 review round so far, not that it will take you long to read through at the time of writing.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
