See the new LEGO Super Mario sets in action

The LEGO Group has released a video showing the newly-revealed LEGO Super Mario 2021 sets in action.

It’s hard to get a feel for a theme like LEGO Super Mario from still images alone. That’s because the Nintendo sets only really come alive when you play with them. Fortunately, you can already see next year’s Expansion Sets, Power-Up Packs and Character Packs in action in a new video.

The clip shows off some of the functions of the new sets, which introduce new enemies, challenges and even a new biome. All three new expansion packs include purple pieces for the Soda Jungle biome, which is a poisonous pathway that will provoke new reactions from the digital Mario figure.

“It wouldn’t be Super Mario if we weren’t constantly creating new worlds and adventures for everyone’s favourite Plumber,” said Simon Kent, Design Director and Creative Lead for LEGO Super Mario. “The LEGO Super Mario sets we released earlier this year have been extremely well-received by fans and we’re really excited to build on those with even more characters and experiences today.”

The LEGO Super Mario team announced seven new products today, including 71380 Master Your Adventure Maker Setthree new expansion packstwo new Power-Up Packs, and a second series of Character Packs. All the new sets will launch on January 1, 2021.

And, of course, they’ll all be compatible with this year’s first wave of LEGO Super Mario sets, which are available right now. You can support the work of Brick Fanatics by ordering them from LEGO.com using our affiliate links.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
