Seven of the most iconic LEGO Star Wars sets

LEGO Star Wars has become a key part of the LEGO Group over the past couple of decades, so here are seven of the most iconic LEGO Star Wars sets to date.

The theme itself has become a well-known and ongoing part of the LEGO Group’s portfolio. It has provided the LEGO Star Wars design team with some of the biggest budgets in the history of the company to make the largest models possible. Many of these builds have become must-haves or high-ranking builds on wishlists, and for good reason.

To help celebrate five years of 75192 Millennium Falcon and commemorate the legacy of LEGO Star Wars, here are seven of the most iconic LEGO Star Wars sets of all time.

7 – 10188 Death Star

10188 Death Star is the original version of the brick-built space station, recreating several scenes and features from the Death Star that are all interconnected in a way that inspires play.

With a staggering 3,886 pieces and 24 minifigures, 10188 Death Star is the original and most iconic version of the LEGO Death Star, that managed to come back on shelves a year after its retirement with minor design changes in the form of 75159 Death Star. It’s evident that this model had to stay on shelves as long as possible, cementing it as a Star Wars set focused on play as much as it is on display.

6 – 75243 Slave I – 20th Anniversary Edition

There have been many depictions of the Slave I over the past 23 years of LEGO Star Wars. However, we’ve chosen the 20th-anniversary version of the ship for its recognisable features and one key minifigure that sets it apart from any other LEGO Slave I.

75243 Slave I – 20th Anniversary Edition is the only LEGO Star Wars model to include Zuckuss in the theme’s history. Paired with the iconic nature of the ship, there’s a reason that this model is worth nearly £250 for a new copy on Bricklink, at least at the time of writing.

5 – 10240 Red Five X-wing Starfighter

It’s safe to say that the Ultimate Collector Series of LEGO Star Wars models has become a mainstay in the theme, recreating icons from a galaxy far, far away with details surpassing that of many other models. That’s one of the reasons why the more recent UCS X-wing Starfighter is one of the most iconic LEGO Star Wars sets of all time.

Featuring 1,556 pieces, 10240 Red Five X-wing Starfighter may not be the largest Ultimate Collector Series set but it makes a statement on display, depicting the classic ship with details that only the UCS LEGO Star Wars models can allow for. It comes complete with a stand and the informative plaque that UCS sets have become known for too.

4 – 10225 R2-D2

When you think of Star Wars, there’s a good chance you think of a certain Astromech and R2-D2 has been treated to more than a few LEGO Star Wars iterations over the years. They even have a dedicated LEGO Star Wars set in 10225 R2-D2.

This model is another on this list that was subjected to a remake a little later down the line in 75308 R2-D2. It includes all the bells and whistles that R2-D2 has with a distinctly LEGO design thanks to the simple, but effective assembly for the domed head.

3 – 8038 The Battle of Endor

The tense scene where the rebellion attempts the crucial shutdown of the Death Star’s shield generator on the moon of Endor is recreated in 8038 The Battle of Endor, a playset model that we’re sure many would love to add to their collection.

This LEGO Star Wars set is one of the most definitive builds on this list, including everything from an Ewok glider to an AT-ST, ready to re-enact one of the most important battles in Star Wars history. This is undoubtedly an iconic LEGO Star Wars set and a popular one judging by its high prices on the secondary market.

2 – 7131 Anakin’s Podracer

Released as part of the first wave of LEGO Star Wars in 1999, at least one of the sets in that original range needed to have a spot on this list. 7131 Anakin’s Podracer takes the spot as one of the more colourful options in the wave – a rarity in LEGO Star Wars. It’s also one of the only models in that initial range to receive an anniversary recreation in 2019 with 75258 Anakin’s Podracer – 20th Anniversary Edition.

Both builds include a rare version of Padmé and depict a scene from the prequels that also inspired one of the more recognisable levels in the LEGO Star Wars games too. Whether you love the prequels or hate them, they have a place in Star Wars and so does 7131 Anakin’s Podracer as an iconic LEGO model.

1 – 75192 Millennium Falcon

There’s no other build that could take the spot on this list. 75192 Millennium Falcon is the most iconic LEGO Star Wars set of all time. We’d consider it tied with 10179 Ultimate Collector’s Millennium Falcon for the top spot considering the similarities in their models and concepts.

By its size alone, it’s not hard to see why 75192 Millennium Falcon is the most iconic LEGO Star Wars set, acting as the ultimate recreation of a symbol for not only Star Wars but pop culture too. The Millennium Falcon is a beloved ship and deserves nothing less than the huge, iconic 75192 Millennium Falcon

very disappointed that the imperial death star didn’t make this list, I would have put that as a close second and definitely would have had it instead of most of the sets on the list
