Six of the most underrated LEGO sets released in 2022

Not every LEGO set can make it into the Brick Fanatics‘ top 10 list for 2022, but here are six underrated models that are well-worth another look.

With so many models released in a single year, it’s been a real challenge to pull together the Brick Fanatics’ top 10 LEGO sets of 2022 list. Whilst everyone on the team has championed their own personal favourites, there are always some builds that unfortunately just don’t make the cut. Now, that’s not to say those aren’t still fantastic sets in their own right and many underrated models are definitely worth picking up regardless of where they may rank on any list.

With that in mind, here are six LEGO sets released in 2022 that deserve a second chance to be added to your collection, if you have any spare Christmas cash burning a hole in your pocket:

6 – 76208 The Goat Boat

Theme: Marvel Price: £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99 Pieces: 564 Available: Now

One of only two sets released to tie-in with Thor: Love and Thunder, 76208 The Goat Boat is a unique LEGO Marvel model for sure. Featuring an impressive Viking longboat, two brick-built goats and five minifigures, the set accurately captures the sheer wackiness of Taika Waititi’s bonkers superhero epic.

5 – 31124 Super Robot

Theme: Creator 3-in-1 Price: £8.99 / $9.99 / €9.99 Pieces: 159 Available: Now

For pure creativity and value for money, 31124 Super Robot is a clear winner. This pocket money-priced set may only include 159 pieces, but it can be transformed into an awesome robot, jet aeroplane or dragon. Don’t overlook the simplicity of this build – it’s a LEGO set that definitely ticks all of our boxes.

4 – 80038 Monkie Kid’s Team Van

Theme: Monkie Kid Price: £89.99 / $129.99 / €99.99 Pieces: 1,406 Available: Now

The LEGO Monkie Kid theme continued to expand in 2022, with a number of unique and colourful sets. One of these was 80038 Monkie Kid’s Team Van, with the 1,406-piece build packed with character and sheer fun. Boasting a Team Van with detachable Mo-shaped container and six minifigures, this set is still a real winner in our book.

3 – 21186 The Ice Castle

Theme: Minecraft Price: £44.99 / $49.99 / €49.99 Pieces: 499 Available: Now

LEGO Minecraft sets can tend to get overlooked by those who aren’t fans of Mojang’s video game, but there’s still plenty to enjoy in 21186 The Ice Castle. From a frozen fortress with flick arrow launchers and a cauldron for brewing potions to a hidden treasure chest and six minifigures, this model has it all.

2 – 60353 Wild Animal Rescue Missions

Theme: CITY Price: £24.99 / $39.99 / €29.99 Pieces: 246 Available: Now

The LEGO CITY Missions concept doesn’t appear to have made that big a splash this year, but the idea is certainly sound enough. Added to the range of compatible sets is 60353 Wild Animal Rescue Missions, with younger builders getting to take part in an interactive digital story whilst making a basic truck and three minifigures.

1 – 21334 Jazz Quartet

Theme: Icons Price: £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99 Pieces: 1,606 Available: Now

A great display piece for more mature builders, 21334 Jazz Quartet is a LEGO Icons model that oozes class. Featuring four brick-built musicians, each figure can be posed and arranged however you see fit. Separate instruction booklets allow for both solo construction or as a team effort with family and friends, echoing the combined band theme.
