Did LEGO Star Wars 75306 Imperial Probe Droid inspire a 2022 model?

The colour of a build in LEGO Star Wars 75322 Hoth AT-ST may have been inspired by a 2021 set in the latest evolution of the probe droid.

A notable change has been made to the LEGO Star Wars 2022 Probe Droid model found in 75322 Hoth AT-ST compared to previous minifigure-scale iterations. In 2019, the last brick-built figure for the Imperial Probe droid was presented in 75241 Action Battle Echo Base Defense (review) with a black body, four arms and a singular red eye that greatly resembled every other version of the character as depicted in bricks.

However, the Probe Droid would then disappear from sets until 2021, when the LEGO Group would release LEGO for Adults Star Wars 75306 Imperial Probe Droid, recreating the robot in dark grey with a design that was more accurate to the cinematic version.

It appears that the LEGO designers have taken a liking to this design with a build in the newly revealed 75322 Hoth AT-ST undoubtedly drawing inspiration from it. The 2022 Probe Droid in the set includes four inverted arms, a dark grey body, an antennae and an array of sensors and other equipment.

The differences between the two models for the Imperial Probe Droid are clear, with the newer look debuting in January 2022 as part of 75322 Hoth AT-ST.
