Take a first look at two new LEGO Technic summer sets

Several images of two new LEGO Technic sets have been spotted online, revealing a John Deere Skidder and NASA’s Mars Rover Perseverance.

The images from JB Spielwaren include both the box image and a shot of how each set looks once it’s been fully constructed. Take a look below to see everything that we know about the new LEGO Technic sets so far.

42157 John Deere 948L-II Skidder

Price: £TBC / $TBC / €189.99 Pieces: 1492 Release date: May 31, 2023

From the images provided, 42157 John Deere 948L-II Skidder is an 11+ set, and the vehicle comes in the classic green and yellow John Deere colours. From the box, we can see that it has 1492 pieces, as well as the pneumatic functions that are fairly common to have for the theme. It’s been priced currently at €189.99, with no information yet on UK or US prices.

42158 NASA Mars Rover Perseverance

Price: £TBC / $TBC / €94.99 Pieces: 1132 Release date: May 31, 2023

42158 NASA Mars Rover Perseverance is a 10+ set, showing a detailed recreation of the 2020 Mars Rover, more commonly nicknamed ‘Percy’ by space aficionados. It should be coming in with 1132 pieces, and we can see that at least one of them has a tiny print of the official NASA logo. Like the previous set, we only have the EU pricing which is stated as €94.99.

The Mars Rover set also links to the LEGO Group’s AR compatible app, which is more commonly used to simulate races with cars like LEGO Technic 42138 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. It’ll definitely be interesting to see how the LEGO Group augments reality around the Mars Rover, which is much better known for space exploration.

With the very recent launch of 42156 Peugeot 9X8 24H Le Mans Hybrid Hypercar drawing a lot of attention to the LEGO Technic theme, we’re hoping to hear more about the two new sets from official sources pretty soon.
