Taking BIONICLE to another level

LEGO BIONICLE is known for having a dedicated fanbase, but one enthusiast’s RPG game looks as epic as anything officially released for the theme.

To many LEGO fans, BIONICLE is something of an anomaly; buildable action figures that fit within the system, but are not visually similar to typical LEGO sets. For those who love the theme though, the nostalgia is strong and it remains one of the best examples of LEGO storytelling.

‘Crainy’ has been working on the game for six years, finally revealing a glimpse of it earlier this year. It promises to be an open world RPG with the opportunity for multiplayer and different styles of gameplay.

As this recent taste shows, the graphics for Bionicle: Quest for Mata Nui go way beyond the much more basic video games released alongside the theme in the 2000s.

“Set during the first year of Bionicle, it follows the story of the Toa on their quest to collect the 6 great masks of power to rid the island of Mata Nui of the evil influence called Makuta,” the video’s description reveals.

Fans will be hoping it isn’t another six years until this impressive looking fan project is complete. To follow the game’s progress, subscribe to Bionicle: Quest for Mata Nui on YouTube.
