Ten LEGO sets worth getting double VIP points on

It is that time again, when the official LEGO online shop offers double point to VIP members – here are Brick Fanatics’ recommendations

shop.LEGO.com is offering customers double VIP points on all orders for the rest of the month, meaning twice as much LEGO credit to spend on future purchases. It is the best time to buy those big, extravagant sets to maximise the discount. Brick Fanatics counts down ten sets that are worth buying while the promotion is running…

75192 Millennium Falcon
As the pinnacle of the LEGO Star Wars theme, this Ultimate Collector Series behemoth is the most detailed Millennium Falcon set released. With its luxury packaging and special presentation totally befitting the quality of what is contained within the box, this may be a big purchase, but it is one that feels completely justified.

71043 Hogwarts Castle
If 75192 Millennium Falcon is the icon of the LEGO Star Wars theme, then 71043 Hogwarts Castle is the same for Harry Potter. This beautiful display piece represents the Potterverse’s more accurately than ever before, looking majestic on the shelf but also packed with play possibilities like an oversized doll’s house.

10261 Roller Coaster
Watching the car climb the hill and then go careening around the track is absolutely delightful, with 10261 Roller Coaster offering a completely unique experience. The bespoke track elements are exceptionally well designed, with this mesmerising set likely to provide hours of tangible entertainment.

70657 NINJAGO City Docks
This follow-up set may not be quite the masterpiece that 70620 NINJAGO City is, but it is still a decent, detailed set. With The LEGO NINJAGO Movie showing the city’s dockside nature so prominently, having a build that represents that feels necessary. With 3,553 pieces included, it is a substantial build.

76105 The Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition
Why have a little Hulkbuster when you can have a huge one? Tony Stark’s failsafe for when Bruce Banner gets out of hand is packed with detail, and thanks to a decent piece count, looks impressively tall when on the shelf. For hard core Marvel fans, this is one of the most appealing sets released this year.

10256 Taj Mahal
Fans waited a decade for this set to make its return, and now, like David Beckham, they can once again build their own LEGO version of the iconic landmark. 10256 Taj Mahal has been billed as a re-release, so is remarkably similar to the original version – and significantly cheaper than it was going for on the aftermarket.

70922 The Joker Manor
Somewhat overlooked at the time, 70922 The Joker Manor is packed with fun. Inspired by the sequence in The LEGO Batman Movie in which the clown prince of crime takes over Wayne Manor and redecorates, it is packed with fun featured and uses a variety of colours to reflect the Joker’s eclectic tastes.

75159 Death Star
How do you do a playset? This is how you do a playset. Every other toy company in the land should check out LEGO Star wars 75159 Death Star and take lots of notes. A joy to build and then even more fun to fiddle with, it contains every significant location in the Death Star and Death Star II, while retaining the appropriate spherical shape.

75827 Firehouse Headquarters
This set has been out for a while now, so those who are still staring longingly at it may want to pull the trigger. With LEGO Ghostbusters unlikely to be revisited in the future, this is probably the only opportunity to own 75827 Firehouse Headquarters, a set that evokes very fond memories of the 1980s Kenner toy.

70620 NINJAGO City
Those who do not yet own this set should. While it may be from The LEGO NINJAGO Movie theme, which some perceive as for children only, this is a build that any adult fan is liable to enjoy. Packed with details and clever functions, yet producing something that looks incredible on display, it offers a masterclass in LEGO design.

The full range of LEGO sets, including exclusive products, is available now from shop.LEGO.com, with double VIP points available until October 31.
