New The Batman trailer showcases LEGO source material

As part of DC FanDome 2021, the main trailer for the upcoming The Batman was released, showcasing the source material for the new LEGO sets.

We already know that the LEGO Group will be releasing four sets based on The Batman in January 2022 or November for those of you in the US, but now that a new trailer for the film has been made available we can see what exactly the builds and their features are based on.

Three System models will accompany the movie in 76179 Batman & Selina Kyle Motorcycle Pursuit76181 Batmobile: The Penguin Chase and 76183 Batcave: The Riddler Face-off as well as one from Technic. Whilst the minifigure’s respective characters can be seen throughout the trailer, only one model’s scene was shown, which you can watch for yourself below.

In the final moments of the trailer, a thrilling chase between Batman and the Penguin can be seen with the new Batmobile engulfed in flames, mirror the elements included in 76181 Batmobile: The Penguin Chase. However, the fire pieces featured in that set are shown as blue, not the more natural colour shown in the trailer despite it recreating the scene as evidenced by Penguin’s inclusion. This is because of the Batmobile’s added boost function, which emits a blue jet flame.

The larger 42127 The Batman – Batmobile also references this moment with options to light up the interior of the vehicle with a fiery orange or blue light brick. A first look at the new Riddler iteration was also shown in the trailer, with a glimpse of the mask revealing what the minifigure in 76183 Batcave: The Riddler Face-off is recreating.

The four LEGO The Batman sets will all launch on January 1, 2022. However, pre-orders are now open for the US where the builds will be shipped from November 1. When rewatching the trailer, you may be able to spot these four potential plot points that we found in the new creations.
