The Force Awakens joins LEGOLAND California’s Star Wars Miniland today

LEGO Star Wars fans in California are the first in the world to see their local LEGOLAND destination get a taste of The Force Awakens, as a new section opens as part of the force-themed Miniland today. Following the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story last December, the 2015 release will be represented alongside the other movies in the Star Wars saga.

LEGOLAND California announce that as well a  a 350,000 brick recreation of the Finalizer, six new brick-built scenes will show key scenes from the seventh episode in the core saga. In an interview with StarWars.com last October, Master Model Builder Nik Ehm talked about which scenes would be included:

Similar to how audiences were drawn to the movie, we wanted to draw in guests at LEGOLAND California to the new LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Miniland Model Display. We decided to represent the first 30 minutes of The Force Awakens in LEGO form by including key character moments. The scenes guests will get to enjoy include: Kylo Ren’s capture of Poe at planet Jakku; Rey’s rescue of BB-8; Poe and Finn’s escape from the Star Destroyer Finalizer; the wreck of Finn and Poe’s TIE fighter; Rey, Finn, and BB-8’s escape from Niima Outpost; and the escape from the starship graveyard. Lights, sound effects, and animation will further bring the scenes and characters to life. All these scenes will be on display in the center of LEGO Star Wars Miniland.

Based on previous expansions, it is likely that The Force Awakens will be added to other LEGOLAND destinations in due course.
