The Great Western Brick Show 2016 Event Report
Last weekend, October 1 and 2, saw The Great Western Brick Show 2016 held at Steam, the Museum of the Great Western Railway, in Swindon. This annual Brickish Association event is the highlight in many AFOL calendars and this year’s show did not disappoint. As well as the host of amazing LEGO builds on display, the show also saw the launch of Carl Greatrix’s LEGO Ideas Caterham 7 and for the first time ever Robot Wars, which was a real hit with both young and old visitors.
Every year I’m amazed by the standard of builds that are on show, from the small scale to the wow scale – the effort and detail which goes into each build is amazing. A real crowd pleaser this year were the builds from the Brick To The Past guys, every year they seem to up their game and this was no exception. Not only did they bring along a an enormous 16 square metre build of England in 793AD but also a smaller – though still large – build of the Battle Of Hastings and a mosaic of Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
