The LEGO Batman Movie Cave Pod available at LEGO.com

The LEGO Group has clearly been rummaging down the back of the Bat-sofa, as a long-retired LEGO Batman Movie set has just popped up on LEGO.com.

5004929 Batman Cave Pod originally launched alongside the first wave of The LEGO Batman Movie products in 2017. It’s a promotional item, so wasn’t available through conventional means in most locations, although did pop up briefly in Toys R Us in the UK. (Remember Toys R Us? That’s how old this polybag is.)

Fortunately, you can now buy it outright at LEGO.com for just £3.99 / €4.99 (US fans are out of luck). The average price of a sealed copy on BrickLink is currently £11.36, making this a comparative bargain.

That also makes it the perfect stocking filler – as long as you order within the next few hours, because the cut-off for Christmas delivery is 10.59pm today (December 18). If you leave it later than that, you’ll need to pony up for express delivery to receive your order in time for the big day.

Plus, if you add 5004929 Batman Cave Pod to a larger order, you’ll be able to take advantage of a couple of ongoing promos at LEGO.com. A purchase of £150 will bag you 40416 Ice Skating Rink, while 5006482 Holiday Gift Set 2020 is now being added to every order, regardless of value. Those gifts stack, so a £150 spend will net you both freebies.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
