The LEGO Batman Movie makes a splash at UK Gala Premiere
The LEGO Batman Movie is almost upon us, and a lucky few have already had the chance to see the film – including everyone who attended the UK Gala Premiere in London last weekend.
Saturday January 28 saw Leicester Square’s Empire Cineworld redecorated in the Caped Crusader’s classic black and yellow colour scheme, with multiple screenings of the latest installment in the LEGO Cinematic Universe (we’re clinging to this terminology) occurring throughout the day.
Among those attendees were plenty of invited celebrity guests (and heading up the A-list crew were, of course, a couple of Brick Fanatics staff members). With buzz around the movie reaching critical mass, initial reactions to the movie were unsurprisingly positive.

Matthew Ashton, Vice President of Design at the LEGO Group and Executive Producer of the movie, hit the yellow carpet for some pre-film fun in the foyer. There were plenty of activities to keep the kids busy while the adults grabbed some popcorn, including face painting, building stations and of course, meet-and-greets with the heroes of the day – Batman, Robin and Batgirl.
So happy to confirm #LEGOBatmanMovie is absolutely ruddy brilliant. Kudos all involved, you've kicked plastic cinematic ass again! pic.twitter.com/Bq0ilMqO0a

Stand up comic and Benidorm actor Johnny Vegas was among the star-studded audience, and was naturally full of praise for the team behind the movie. The comedian evidently couldn’t resist snapping a pic with the Dark Knight himself.

Children’s TV stars Dick and Dom popped by to give the movie a whirl, making sure to pose on the yellow carpet first. We can’t help but think Batman himself might actually have opted for a black carpet, but we suppose that wouldn’t have been as eye-catching.
It was Batman’s lucky day in more ways than one, however, as the vigilante received a kiss from athlete and glamour model Nell McAndrew – who was also gushing with praise for the ‘fantastic movie’, and of course, the star of the show’s magnificent abs.
We’ll be bringing you more The LEGO Batman Movie content up to and beyond the film’s release on February 10 – including our verdict on Warner Bros.’ second LEGO Cinematic Universe movie. Yep. Definitely coined a phrase there…

- I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
