The LEGO Group and McLaren unveil a brick-built Senna
A 1:1 Scale McLaren Senna built from LEGO bricks has been unveiled to promote the company’s collaborations.
The LEGO Group is continuing to take iconic cars from motorsports and recreate them at full scale using bricks, with the McLaren Senna – the same car featured in Speed Champions – now getting the block treatment. It took 5,000 hours for 42 people to build this impressive recreation of the Senna.
Nine real Sennas could have been built in the 2,725 hours it took to build the model, which uses 467,825 pieces and weighs in at 1,700kg. As well as the automatic LEGO elements, the car uses a carbon fibre seat, steering wheel, tyres and pedal box from a real Senna. Fans will be able to check it out at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
In the LEGO Speed Champions theme, 75892 McLaren Senna (review) was launched as one of the brand new sets for January 2019. Brick Fanatics Magazine Issue 4 features an exclusive interview with McLaren Principal Designer Esteban Palazzo and LEGO Model Designer Christopher Leslie Stamp .
Previous full size LEGO recreatons include the McLaren 720S.
