The LEGO NINJAGO Movie reaches $50 million in the USA

During its fourth week on release, The LEGO NINJAGO Movie has crossed the $50 million mark at the US box office.

Forbes reports the latest box office figures, that sees The LEGO NINJAGO continue to under perform, having earned $51.3 million in 24 days.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie earned $1.005 million yesterday (-38%) for a likely $4.1m (-41%) fourth weekend and $51.3m 24-day total. Once again, this one isn’t doing very well, which is doubly concerning as LEGO movies haven’t thus far broken out overseas.

One glimmer of relief that might please the LEGO Group is the news that My Little Pony has had an absolutely dismal box office run on just two weeks, in an attempt by Hasbro to launch a film franchise based on the equestrian inspired toys.

Speaking of underperforming animation, My Little Pony sank like a stone on its second Friday, earning just $955,000 (-68%) for a likely $3.36m (-62%) second weekend and $14.88m ten-day total. I’m sure Lionsgate will make money from the film, but we’re not seeing the glorious birth of a new animated franchise.

The LEGO NINJAGO Movie has earned over $45 million in markets outside of the USA, also lower than the totals of The LEGO Movie and The LEGO Batman Movie.

The LEGO NINJAGO Movie is out now. Sets based on the movie are available from shop.LEGO.com.
