The LEGO Originals Wooden Minifigure is gone for good

The LEGO Originals Wooden Minifigure has sold out at LEGO.com for what may be the last time.

The LEGO Group announced the decorative product’s imminent retirement earlier in December, giving it an expiry date of December 31, 2020. Now – two days ahead of schedule – it’s out of stock at LEGO.com in the UK, perhaps spurred on by the recent Boxing Day sale.

Those two factors combined suggest it isn’t coming back, so you may have missed your chance to order the one and only LEGO Originals product from LEGO.com. If your local LEGO Store is open, you might still have a chance of grabbing it, but you’ll likely need to act fast. You can save yourself a wasted trip by checking store stock on the Wooden Minifigure’s product page.

The unique upscaled minifigure was developed in conjunction with Room Copenhagen, and became the first (and so far, only) product to launch under the LEGO Originals banner in 2019. The material is a nod to the LEGO Group’s history, which is rooted in wooden toys.

At £109.99 / $119.99 / €116.97, the 5:1 scale collectable was by no means cheap – and as a LEGO direct-to-consumer exclusive, discounts were few and far between. In fact, its Boxing Day sale price of £87.99 (20% off) was as good as it ever got.

If you’re in the US, you can still order 853967 Wooden Minifigure from LEGO.com. You’ll have to pay full price, but given it’s also marked as ‘Retiring Soon’, you may not have much choice.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
