There may be more LEGO Marvel Infinity Saga sets to come in 2022
We haven’t even seen the rumoured first wave of LEGO Avengers: Infinity Saga sets yet, but word is already emerging of a follow-up wave in 2022.
Instagram user 1414falconfan suggests that a second wave of sets based on the first three phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe could include characters missing from the rumoured summer 2021 sets, such as Ant-Man, Hulk and War Machine.
With Marvel’s cinematic line-up basically on hold at the moment – Black Widow is still waiting in the wings after originally eyeing up a May 2020 release – the LEGO Group is thought to be diving into the studio’s extended back catalogue for this summer’s sets, which will reportedly tackle early films like Iron Man and Captain America: The First Avenger for the first time in bricks.
With an eye-watering 23 films to draw from, these ‘Infinity Saga’-branded sets could arguably sustain the LEGO Marvel line for years to come, much in the same way that Star Wars continues to thrive on designs more than four decades old.
It’s probably not much of a surprise to learn that more might be in the works, then – but it is surprising to hear about potential 2022 sets this early into 2021. Nevertheless, when asked if this rumoured second wave might launch this year, 1414falconfan replied: “I doubt it.”
The Instagram user also alluded to the possible appearances of Black Widow, Hawkeye, Nebula and Valkyrie in this hypothetical second wave, suggesting it may end up plugging more of the gaps left in the initial line-up of Avengers: Endgame sets in 2019.
If you’d rather focus on the here and now, the current crop of LEGO Marvel sets is available to buy from LEGO.com, while this year already looks to have plenty of surprises in store for us – if rumours are to be believed, anyway. This particular story is just another one of those, so best to wait for official confirmation from the LEGO Group before getting your hopes up.

- I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
