Time’s up on the LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters contest
Put down your proton packs: the LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters contest is now closed for entries.
The crowdsourcing platform challenged its users to design a ghost fit for busting, with a huge prize package – including 10274 Ghostbusters ECTO-1 – up for grabs. The intake phase has now finished, so you can no longer submit your ghoulish ideas to the platform.
Almost 500 builders managed to get their models in before the deadline, so the judges will have a tough time whittling it down to find three winners. First place will take home 10274 Ghostbusters ECTO-1, 21323 Piano, 21320 Dinosaur Fossils and a Ghostbusters prize package, while two runners-up will win the same, minus the piano.
The LEGO Ghostbusters team will select the winners based on the following criteria:
- Overall coolness and originality: 25%
- Most inspired details: 25%
- Relevance to contest theme: 25%
- Best use of LEGO elements: 25%
The winners will be announced in early 2021. You can check out all the entries over at the contest page.
The judging period for the iconic Ferrari poster contest is currently underway, while LEGO Ideas also recently announced the winners of its festive LEGO Star Wars contest. The Ghostbusters competition marks the final LEGO Ideas competition of 2020, though, so you’ll have to wait until next year for another chance to win some cool LEGO gear.

Author Profile
- I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
