Travel 65 years down LEGO memory lane through retro ads
The LEGO Group has shared ads from 65 years ago that track the same values the company stands by today.
In honour of International LEGO Day, the company shared some old-school ads that showed how it used to sell LEGO sets and bricks at various points in time. Starting with black and white images, then illustrations, and then finally more modern-looking photographs, the ads highlight that the LEGO Group’s ‘learning through play’ ethos has endured in the 65 years since the first patent was filed.
“The four ads below remind us that our vision to become a global force for #learningthroughplay has always been present in the LEGO brand,” wrote the company on LinkedIn. “They also reinforce that, while we’re constantly innovating, the brick remains as culturally relevant today as ever. And it still fits, too!”
This 65-year anniversary comes hot on the heels of the LEGO Group’s 90th birthday, which prompted the release of nostalgic models like 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle. What’s more, some of the LEGO VIP prints for various patents have been made available on the LEGO VIP Rewards Centre again to celebrate International LEGO Day, so that you can display a part of the company’s history around your home.
