Two new LEGO sets enter the Brick Fanatics Top 20

A pair of brand new LEGO products have joined Brick Fanatics’ Top 20 LEGO Sets List, including the first-ever Transformers set in 10302 Optimus Prime.

Of all the 80-something sets releasing today (June 1), at least two stand out to us as worthy of joining the ranks of the very best models currently available at LEGO.com. That’s bolstered by the fact they are indeed still in stock, which for both of these sets is actually pretty surprising, given how popular they’re sure to prove – both with hardcore LEGO fans and beyond.

There must be a sizeable audience of Transformers fans hopping on 10302 Optimus Prime, for instance, which so brilliantly captures the G1 Autobot that it’s bound to appeal far beyond the core LEGO target audience (surely the intention of the LEGO for Adults range). This is a Transformer that looks the part, genuinely transforms, and involves all the fun of putting it together, too.

For those reasons and more, 10302 Optimus Prime slots straight in at ninth position on the ideal Brick Fanatics’ Top 20 LEGO Sets List. At the moment, it’s actually moved up to sixth place, because three other sets that would otherwise be in the running – 10294 Titanic, 10300 Back to the Future Time Machine and 76989 Horizon Forbidden West: Tallneck – are all currently out of stock.

Also new to the Top 20 this month is 76217 I am Groot, a more cost-effective entry point for the best LEGO your money can buy right now, and one of the most adorable and fun buildable characters the LEGO Group has ever come up with. Baby Groot may be low-hanging fruit for that kind of achievement, but don’t underestimate the complexity that’s gone into realising his characterful design.

Dive into our detailed review of 76217 I am Groot for more on this brand new release, which is available now at LEGO.com, and comes into our list at 17th place (so, 15th place at the minute).

Don’t forget to check out Brick Fanatics’ Top 20 LEGO Sets List in full, too – it’s updated daily, to not only help you keep track of when the best sets are in stock, but also to hopefully give you some guidance on where best to direct your LEGO budget.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.

Optimus is still in stock because it’s priced 50% too high. Why are you supporting this?
