What happened to LEGO CITY 60278 Crook’s Hideout Raid?

Dozens of new LEGO sets have launched online today, but one new addition to the LEGO CITY range is mysteriously missing.

60278 Crook’s Hideout Raid – as its name is now listed at Brickset – first appeared in the back of a Friends instruction manual in January. We’ve heard nothing on the set since, however, even while themes including Star Wars, Monkie Kid, Marvel and NINJAGO have all debuted new products.

There was nothing to suggest definitively that 60278 Crook’s Hideout Raid would arrive in March alongside new sets for those themes, but it’s now unclear whether the LEGO CITY model is coming at all.

That’s because the instruction manual for the newly-released 41450 Heartlake City Shopping Mall includes the same CITY layout that first revealed 60278 Crook’s Hideout Raid – but omits that set entirely.

If it’s still due to be released in the near future, it’s fair to assume it would still be included in those promotional materials. The question now is: has 60278 Crook’s Hideout Raid (and its comical oversized dynamite) been shelved for good, or will it still land later this year?

We’ve reached out to the LEGO Group to find out what’s going on, so we’ll let you know as soon as we can.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
