What is the LEGO Star Wars Master Builder Series?

The LEGO Group has provided confirmation of what the Master Builder Series is.

When LEGO Star Wars 75222 Betrayal at Cloud City was announced earlier this month, it was mentioned as being part of the Master Builder Series. Fans quickly began to wonder, what is the Master Builder Series?

Here is the official statement from the LEGO Group:

The Master Builder Series models are large playsets and beside being complex builds they are characterised by having many play features and functions, interior details as well as a range of minifigures. Ultimate Collectors series will remain highly detailed display models providing complex builds with a focus on authenticity and both Ultimate Collectors Series and Master Builder Series will continue as a way to highlight the unique characteristic of each style of model. [sic]

So Ultimate Collector Series sets will continue to be the impressive, detailed display models, while Master Builder Series sets will be the large, playset type sets like the upcoming 75222 Betrayal at Cloud City. It means fans can add another acronym to the list – MBS.

From September 13, LEGO Star Wars 75222 Betrayal at Cloud City will be available exclusively from shop.LEGO.com.
