Which films does LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales pay homage to?

LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales is out now and to celebrate, an interview with the team has detailed the films to which it pays homage.

As of October 1, Disney+ is now home to another LEGO Star Wars seasonal special, this time focusing the action from a galaxy far, far away to Halloween with a spooky quest for Sith artefacts and an array of terrifying tales, hence the title.

As noted in the trailer for LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales, it pays homage to several films from the past generations of the horror genre, with a selection of the team behind the LEGO video being interviewed on the official Star Wars website to explain which movies are referenced.

“It was a lot of fun! It didn’t take long for us to agree on what each of the three sub-stories should pay homage to given the characters we are using, “explained executive producer Jason Cosler. “The first story with the Knights of Ren fits perfectly with The Lost Boys given the group dynamic, the second story with Maul and Grievous is an homage to Frankenstein, and the last story with Luke and Vader is an homage to The Monkey’s Paw and a little Twilight Zone.”

“All those tones add up to something special. To something that really affects our characters in Vader’s castle in an interesting way.” said Josh Rimes of Lucasfilm.

Aside from those four films, the LEGO Star Wars special also references The Shining, as can be seen in the official poster.
