How many LEGO Star Wars buildable Yodas is too many?

A new LEGO Star Wars Yoda is rumoured for next year, with a name that suggests yet another buildable figure, continuing the LEGO Group's 24-year obsession.

75474 Master Yoda is rumoured for next year, with a reported price tag of $149.99 and 1,200 pieces. These details, while unconfirmed, suggest another buildable Yoda figure sized between 7194 Yoda and 75255 Yoda.

That's only speculation on our part, but it's no secret that the LEGO Group loves sculptures of the iconic green character. Following the original 7194 Yoda in 2002, we've had 2019's 75255 Yoda and this year's 75438 Yoda Bust.

That's not to mention the BrickHeadz and three buildable figures from various Comic-Con-exclusive builds. Yoda has more buildable figures than any other LEGO Star Wars character, behind R2-D2, and it's clear to see that the LEGO Group loves a buildable Yoda.

While we wait to see whether the 2027 rumour is legitimate, it raises the question of how many buildable Yodas are too many.

Looking at R2-D2's buildable figures and including BrickHeadz and convention-exclusive sets, the astromech has 10 compared to Yoda's seven figures. It's also worth keeping in mind that most of Yoda's retail buildable figures have come in sets from the past seven years, creating a sense of overabundance.

This has been the case with R2-D2, as well, but that character has so many figures that it's starting to feel normal. Yoda isn't quite there yet. From this, we can discern that there aren't too many Yoda buildable figures just yet, even with the speculation and rumour of a new entry next year.

Then again, with the rise of Grogu in the LEGO Star Wars portfolio, there might be too many buildable figures of Yoda's species on shelves.
