LEGO Alchemist’s Shop: the ‘best BrickLink set so far’?

Series 7 sets are turning up with backers now, and Castle fans are very happy

LEGO Alchemist’s Shop: the ‘best BrickLink set so far’?

BrickLink Designer Program Series 7 sets are starting to arrive with backers, and LEGO castle fans who pre-ordered this round’s medieval entry are calling it the ‘best BrickLink set so far’.

Shram’s Alchemist's Shop serves up something a little different for the medieval-themed slot in Series 7 of the BrickLink Designer Program: a building in scale and design harmony with the long-retired 21325 Medieval Blacksmith, right down to the roof technique. The 2,319-piece set was available to pre-order in February and is now arriving with backers – much to their delight.

“I was excited for this set but even then the building experience blew my expectations out of the water,” ---Tanner--- said on the r/legocastles subreddit. “Best BDP set so far [in my opinion].” They added in the comments that the build even surpassed the Medieval Blacksmith in many ways, despite being relatively similar in design.

“I found this one so much more of joy to put together, and it felt more like a legitimate LEGO set than the blacksmith and is more structurally sound. It feels alive with all the little details inside.”

RedWife77 agreed: “I’m on bag 8, and I’m enjoying it way more than I expected – in fact way more than any LEGO set I’ve built over the past year or so.”

The Medieval Blacksmith and Alchemist’s Shop may scale well with one another – check out the image below from redditor Sjerakatabuaryalyse – but that means they’re both out of scale with official LEGO castle sets such as 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle and 10332 Medieval Town Square.

That might have been enough to put some off pre-ordering, but voodoojunglewizard encourages piecing together at least the potions cart on the aftermarket if you missed out.

“If you skipped the Alchemist’s Shop due to the funky scale, I highly recommend parting together this cart,” they said. “It was such a fun thing to assemble. I'm not a big fan of the process usually (love the end results) but this had me smiling the entire time… The flip out potion shelf is awesome, and the little potion on top was just so clever.”

Because the BrickLink Designer Program only uses elements in the current portfolio, it should be relatively easy to assemble the cart using Pick a Brick (or, with no irony at all, BrickLink). You’ll be able to create a parts list for it by checking out the instructions for the Alchemist’s Shop, which are available to all online now, regardless of whether or not you pre-ordered the set.

If you’re reading this and wishing you’d taken the plunge back in February, you’ve got three options: turn to the aftermarket, where it’s selling for around £230 on eBay; wait for the LEGO Group to sell off its leftover stock through official channels (where it’s likely to be snapped up within seconds); or part it out completely using Pick a Brick, BrickLink, Brick Owl or other sources.

Or if you did pre-order and are in the process of building your copy (or have already built it), let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

The next medieval-themed LEGO BrickLink Designer Program set available to pre-order will be Series 9's Sleepy Dragon Inn (pictured up top alongside the Medieval Blacksmith and Alchemist's Shop). Crowdfunding for that one kicks off on October 7, 2026 at 9am PT / 5pm BST.
