This LEGO Minas Tirith fan build is way cheaper than the real thing

It is now possible to build a compact version of Minas Tirith without needing a huge amount of space, thanks to a clever fan design.

It’s no surprise that 11377 The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith – the seventh-largest set ever released by the LEGO Group – demands plenty of room. The 8,278-piece model stands 59 cm tall, 62 cm wide, and 37 cm deep, making it a genuinely gigantic build.

It also comes with a premium price tag of £579.99 / $649.99 / €649.99, which puts it out of reach for some fans. However, a much more affordable alternative offers a similar visual impact for just £129.99 / $139.99 / €139.99.

MOC designer Wurger Bricks has reimagined the White City using 877 pieces from 21066 New York City – The Big Apple. The result is a striking microscale interpretation that blends the silhouette of Minas Tirith with elements of the New York skyline set.

The design cleverly repurposes skyscraper elements into towering structures across the city, while a dramatic backdrop evokes the Seven Stars of Gondor, giving the build a striking sense of atmosphere despite its compact footprint. Instructions for the build are available to purchase for $10.99. 

With 11377 The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith currently on backorder and not expected to ship until August, 21066 New York City – The Big Apple offers a more accessible way to achieve a Lord of the Rings-inspired display – while saving around £450 / $510 / €510 (not including the cost of the instructions).

Both sets are currently included in the LEGO Insiders double points event, meaning buyers can earn the equivalent of 10% back in points instead of the usual 5% until June 29.
