The retiring LEGO Disney set to pair with Main Street

It makes you wonder why it wasn't included in the first place...

The retiring LEGO Disney set to pair with Main Street

Before double points end on Monday, consider expanding the new LEGO Disney Main Street, U.S.A. set with another model due to retire soon.

The recent 43302 Main Street, U.S.A. hasn't struck a chord with every enthusiast, with some criticisms including the overall content for the £319.99 / $399.99 / €349.99. In theory, 3,899 pieces and 16 minifigures aren't bad for the price, but many of those elements are smaller to capture more details. This results in three facade buildings covering a fraction of the street.

While adding another full building will be quite a pricey endeavour, a substantial expansion that also makes sense in the context of the theme park set is only £34.99 / $39.99 / €39.99 away.

As someone fortunate enough to visit Main Street, U.S.A. at both Disneyland parks in California and Paris, a core memory of my trips is watching a colourful, character-filled parade make its way down Main Street.

The bright colours of the floats mix well with the colour scheme of the street's buildings, while the movements of the characters and other elements of the floats contrast with the otherwise static architecture of Main Street. It's hard to even picture Main Street without a parade, yet the LEGO set is without one.

While characters such as Mickey and Minnie can be known to roam Main Street, they appear more frequently as part of various parades. 43302 Main Street, U.S.A. includes Mickey and Minnie, who stand out compared to the normal cast members and guest minifigures. They'd be more at home leading a parade heading down LEGO Main Street.

The LEGO Group's history with parades is scarce, including a handful of sets and some limited parades in LEGOLAND parks. Thankfully, one of these few parade sets is available now, and it's even a Disney model.

43264 Toy Story Celebration Train & RC Car would be ideal as a Toy Story-based Parade to go alongside the new 43302 Main Street, U.S.A. It's available now for £34.99 / $39.99 / €39.99 with four floats and four minifigures, but it will be retired by December 31.

You can pick it up now alongside 43302 Main Street, U.S.A. to take advantage of the current double points event, offering 10% of your order in LEGO Insiders points to put towards exclusive items and discounts on future purchases. You'll also absolutely qualify for the free 40902 Tribute to Leonardo da Vinci available until the end of tomorrow.

The only other option for a Disney parade is the retired 43212 Disney Celebration Train from the range for the company's 100th anniversary. It's still available at a small markup at Amazon UK for a float with a more diverse range of Disney characters.
