LEGO The Last Jedi set for release on Star Wars Force Friday II

Set your navicomputers for September 1, 2017, as it has been dubbed ‘Force Friday II’ by Lucasfilm, who will be launching the new Star Wars: The Last Jedi merchandise on that very date – including the new movie’s LEGO range.

Following the first Force Friday merchandise launch for The Force Awakens in 2015, and last year’s Go Rogue product launch for Rogue One, the annual event sees the first wave of movie products released to build anticipation for the film release.

As part of the announcement on StarWars.com, the LEGO Group provided comment on the event:

Jill Wilfert, vice president of global licensing and entertainment from The LEGO Group commented, “It was so much fun to be a part of Star Wars Force Friday, and we can’t wait for fans to join this year’s celebration as we reveal new Star Wars: The Last Jedi products during Force Friday II — a global event that will connect fans and families, and allow them to build, create and share their experiences with others.”

Some felt that with a late December release date, The Force Awakens range was released too early, with no images or even details on the product officially available prior to the launch. But due to when key retailers organise Christmas product ranges and wanting to ensure the toys are available in the key shopping window, it is perhaps unsurprising that the early date has been repeated.
