Note that many sets sell out long before their scheduled retirement date, and remember that these dates are subject to change.

Retiring LEGO Star Wars sets

One of the most iconic LEGO themes isn’t immune to the passage of time, unfortunately. At the end of 2024, the sets currently scheduled to retire include the massive 75290 Mos Eisley Cantina and its many exclusive minifigures.

Keep in mind that 75308 R2-D2 is retiring soon too, in case you’ve been needing to finish the collection of brick-built droids.

Retiring LEGO Ideas sets

The fan-inspired theme has a smaller section than most other LEGO ranges, but each of its models is unique in some way.

As for what’s retiring first from the theme, 2024 will see us waving goodbye to 21339 BTS Dynamite, 21318 Tree House and more, but this is subject to change at any time.

Retiring LEGO Marvel sets

With builds based on a wide array of Marvel media, LEGO Marvel’s retiring sets selection for 2024 is as extensive as it was for 2023. We’d advise prioritising 76266 Endgame Final Battle as well as the brand new 76275 Motorcycle Chase: Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock.

Retiring LEGO Harry Potter sets

LEGO Harry Potter’s list of retiring sets for 2024 includes a smaller selection leaving in July and a larger range in December. For now, we’d recommend keeping an eye out for 75969 Hogwarts Astronomy Tower and 76388 Hogsmeade Village Visit for a pair of locations rarely depicted to this extent in the theme.

Retiring LEGO Indiana Jones sets

LEGO Indiana Jones may have recently returned to the LEGO portfolio but it appears as if its time may be up again already.

Every single LEGO Indiana Jones set is scheduled to retire at the end of 2024, though this is subject to change.

Retiring LEGO Technic sets

The massive selection of retiring LEGO Technic sets for 2024 includes the massive 42157 John Deere 948L-II Skidder as well as 42152 Firefighter Aircraft.

You’ve got a bit longer at the time of writing for many other models, as outlined in the tables below.

Retiring LEGO Icons sets

LEGO Icons is an especially diverse theme focused on display, and that makes it one of the more expensive themes available. Allocating a budget for LEGO Icons sets may take some time, but it means a list of exactly when its models are retiring is a useful resource to have.

For 2024, 10274 Ghostbusters ECTO-1 is scheduled to retire as the only LEGO Ghostbusters model currently available, timing with the release of a new movie this year. Otherwise, 10320 Eldorado Fortress is leaving shelves too and taking the nostalgia with it. There’s still some time to pick up both, but you may not want to wait too long.

Retiring LEGO Architecture sets

Don’t expect LEGO Architecture’s list of retiring LEGO sets to change too much over the next few years as the theme has moved to a much smaller annual release schedule.

Following 2023’s end, you should prioritise 21057 Singapore as it’s scheduled to retire next, as well as 21056 Taj Mahal.

With a new season of LEGO NINJAGO Dragons Rising coming this year, it’s a great time to catch up on the first season’s models as well as a variety of Core models that have made their way into the new season including 71786 Zane’s Ice Dragon Creature.

The LEGO Group’s latest original theme is all about nightmares and dreams, but with a lot more Zs. At the time of writing, all LEGO DREAMZzz sets are retiring at the end of 2024, so there’s nothing to worry about in the immediate future.

Retiring LEGO DC / LEGO Batman sets

Not quite as packed as Marvel, the slate of LEGO DC, or at this point just LEGO Batman builds is due to get a lot smaller next year with 2024 seeing the retirement of every remaining set currently available based on the Caped Crusader.

Out of this selection, the massive 76252 Batcave – Shadow Box may be a good pick for the top priority.

Retiring LEGO Super Mario sets

Similar to NINJAGO, LEGO Super Mario’s array of retiring sets is split into two waves most years – one in July and one in December.

At the end of this year, 2024, most of the theme including its three starter packs will have retired. That’s as well as some of the display-centric models, including 71395 Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block and 71374 Nintendo Entertainment System.

Retiring LEGO Animal Crossing sets

LEGO Animal Crossing is the second Nintendo theme and the first with minifigures. Thankfully, as a more recent addition to the LEGO line-up, all of its sets aren’t retiring for a while at the time of writing so there’s no immediate rush to pick them up.

Another LEGO video game theme has been revealed recently with Sonic the Hedgehog going from LEGO Dimensions to LEGO Ideas and now into his own theme.

All of the first LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog sets are scheduled to retire at the end of 2024 so be as quick as the Blue Blur in picking them up so you don’t miss the Sonic, Tails, Amy and Dr. Eggman minifigures.

LEGO Creator is home to nostalgic sets paying tribute to a variety of classic themes and they’re, unsurprisingly, some of the highest priorities when it comes to retiring Creator models.

For 2024, that includes a variety of postcard creations, 31120 Medieval Castle and much more.

Retiring LEGO Speed Champions sets

LEGO Speed Champion’s retirement schedule is one of the most predictable in the LEGO Group’s portfolio with entire waves leaving production at once, usually with few exceptions.

For 2024, you may want to prioritise 76917 2 Fast 2 Furious Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34) for a detailed car recreation and an exclusive minifigure.

Retiring LEGO Collectible Minifigures

As LEGO Collectible Minifigures have a limited product selection with comparatively limited sale periods, there’s almost always only a few months to pick up the latest series before their exclusive minifigures retire for good.

Now that 71038 Disney 100 has retired, you’ll want to ensure you have every minifigure you want from 71039 Marvel Series 2 before the end of 2023.

LEGO Disney’s retiring set selection has had a few changes in recent years and with more models being added to the selection in March, there’s a lot to keep an eye on.

This year we’d advise looking out for the Wish sets, 43227 Villain Icons, as well as two other sets retiring in July 2024.

Retiring LEGO Avatar sets

One of the newest LEGO themes under the LEGO Group’s banner, based on two of the highest-grossing films of all time, LEGO Avatar has sets based on the first and second film and just retired some of its original wave.

For 2024, look out for 75579 Payakan the Tulkun & Crabsuit for its many exclusive elements but in short, the entirety of the theme looks scheduled to retire at the end of 2024.

Retiring LEGO Jurassic World sets

For LEGO Jurassic World, the sets retiring in 2024 have some notable inclusions with some of the theme’s anniversary models that revisit the original movie to an extent that we haven’t seen before.

Out of the 2024 retiring set selection for LEGO Jurassic World, we recommend keeping an eye on 76949 Giganotosaurus & Therizinosaurus Attack and 76959 Triceratops Research.

Retiring LEGO Monkie Kid sets

LEGO Monkie Kid has plenty of rare minifigures and unique pieces to collect in dozens of sets at a wide variety of price ranges, including expensive entries.

At the end of 2024, many LEGO Monkie Kid models are retiring, including 80036 The City of Lanterns as a major highlight of the selection that combines with the new 80054 Megapolis City 5th Anniversary.

Retiring LEGO City sets

LEGO City has one of the longest lists of retiring LEGO sets and while most of the models in it are generic, and befitting of the theme, there are quite a few retiring at the end of 2024 to keep an eye on.

While there is undoubtedly a lot to track, 60380 Downtown would be our pick for top priority as a standout LEGO City set in its lengthy history.

Retiring LEGO Art sets

LEGO Art’s array of displayable models has had a major change at the start of 2024 as there are now some sets scheduled to retire at the end of this year.

Until something changes, look out for 31209 The Amazing Spider-Man and 31210 Modern Art before they retire at the end of 2024.

Retiring LEGO Friends sets

Similar to LEGO City, many of LEGO Friends’ retiring sets are exciting, especially to dedicated enthusiasts as models don’t rely on mini-dolls and are just as compatible with minifigures.

A new year has brought a lot of interesting new LEGO Friends sets but for now, don’t forget about 41744 Sports Center before it retires in July 2024.

Retiring LEGO Gabby’s Dollhouse sets

Another new theme is now available with DreamWorks’ series Gabby’s Dollhouse getting four LEGO sets. Similar to much of Sonic the Hedgehog, almost, the entire range is currently scheduled to retire at the end of 2024. This is apart from the huge 10788 Gabby’s Dollhouse, retiring in 2025.

Retiring LEGO BrickHeadz sets

LEGO BrickHeadz’ range of familiar caricatures has many models and that means that plenty are retiring soon.

At the end of 2024, the upcoming 40672 Sonic the Hedgehog: Knuckles & Shadow is scheduled to retire not long after the third Sonic movie releases.

Retiring LEGO Minecraft sets

Minecraft shows no sign of stopping at the moment but LEGO Minecraft isn’t quite as immune to the passage of time. Many of its sets are retiring in 2024.

At the time of writing, this includes the brand-new 21253 The Animal Sanctuary and 21257 The Devourer Showdown. The latter is the only LEGO set currently based on Minecraft Legends.

Retiring LEGO Seasonal sets

The highlight of the retiring LEGO Seasonal sets is the duo of Chinese Traditional Festivals builds for 2024 after they were released recently.

80113 Family Reunion Celebration is one of the best LEGO Chinese Traditional Festivals sets for this year but it’s retiring at the end of 2024 at the time of writing.

Retiring LEGO Classic sets

LEGO Classic’s boxes of bricks might not be quite as high to prioritise as other themes when it comes to retiring sets.

We’d note that at the end of 2024, 11033 Creative Fantasy Universe will leave shelves in case you need a mix of fantasy in your box of bricks.

Retiring exclusive LEGO sets

A select few LEGO sets don’t wholly fit into any one theme, hence why they’ve got a special section to help you keep track of when they retire. This section currently only consists of LEGO sets exclusively available from the LEGO Group directly.

It’s not a huge list and is unlikely to grow too much, as evidenced by the two sets retiring at the end of 2024 – 40574 LEGO Brand Store and 40634 Icons of Play.
