Retired LEGO Icons 10497 Galaxy Explorer still available – and at a discount

LEGO Icons 10497 Galaxy Explorer may have retired but you can still pick it up – and at a discount no less – at Walmart right now.

Designed and released for the 90th anniversary of the LEGO Group, 10497 Galaxy Explorer recreates the iconic 497 Galaxy Explorer from 1979 with updated building techniques and pieces, while retaining the design aspects that Classic Space is known for.

While its standard price is $99.99, Walmart has 10497 Galaxy Explorer in stock now for $89.49, saving you $10.50. You’ll still receive all 1,254 pieces and four minifigures for that price.

10497 Galaxy Explorer focuses on the ship itself featuring two interior sections, an opening door at the back and nostalgic details that recreate stickers at a more appropriate scale relative to the redesigned model. A robot and a buggy are also included.

It’s the perfect LEGO set to celebrate 90 years of the LEGO Group, even following the end of the anniversary year. Despite its retirement, 10497 Galaxy Explorer can be yours with over $10 in savings now at Walmart.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
