The 200th LEGO BrickHeadz set is revealed as the Minecraft Llama

The LEGO Group has announced the upcoming 200th BrickHeadz character, which is the 40625 Llama from Minecraft.

The llama comes alongside two other classic Minecraft characters, Alex and a zombie. From what we can see so far it doesn’t look like there is anything within the set that particularly celebrates passing the 200th BrickHeadz mark, but the gold brick that’s on the packaging is a small change that nods to the occasion.

LEGO BrickHeadz first became available in 2016, and were aimed at those who maybe didn’t have the time to spend on a whole full build. From the first ever BrickHeadz character, 41585 Batman in 2017, we’ve seen figures from franchises such as Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Back to the Future and Stranger Things.

According to brickinsights.com, some of the best rated BrickHeadz sets include many of the 2018 sets, such as 41632 Homer Simpson & Krusty the Clown, 41628 Princess Leia Organa, and the seasonal 40351 Halloween Ghost. All of these sets have since been retired.

The 100th BrickHeadz figure was not actually part of a franchise, as the 40380 Easter Sheep Set. Like the latest llama set, the 100 on the packaging was also done in gold, but now we have a more defined actual brick there which is a nice touch.

The first time we saw LEGO BrickHeadz with characters from Minecraft was in 2018 with 41612 Steve & Creeper, which came together in a single set. The new 2023 sets each have one individual character, and the llama has the most pieces out of all the new sets, coming in with 100 to recreate the familiar Minecraft mob.

The llama LEGO BrickHeadz follows the 2022 set 21188 The Llama Village, currently retailing at £114.99 / $129.99 / €129.99, which includes two smaller llamas that can be placed in the set. We’ve also seen popularity for the llama in toy form, with 8in plushies also available to buy at several toy stores across the country.

Overall it seems that many Minecraft fans will be happy about the new characters, and hopefully in the future we’ll get to see more mobs being available for purchase.
