21335 Motorised Lighthouse is the most accurate LEGO Lighthouse ever

LEGO Ideas 21335 Motorised Lighthouse is easily the most accurate LEGO Lighthouse model thanks to one new brick.

With the reveal of 21335 Motorised Lighthouse and the addition of the LEGO Ideas set to the official online store, an extra feature in the build has been confirmed. As the name suggests, 21335 Motorised Lighthouse features a spinning light at the top of the build, but that light is also shining through a new element recreating a Fresnel lens.

A Fresnel lens is a type of lens developed by the French physicist Augustin-Jean Fresnel and it helps condense light into one powerful beam that makes light travel further so that as many ships in the ocean as possible can see the lighthouse and stay away from danger.

A new brick recreates the shape of a Fresnel lens, condensing the light projected by 21335 Motorised Lighthouse in the same way.

It’s an unexpected and unnecessary detail featured in the LEGO Ideas set that helps it stand out compared to previous brick-built lighthouses, and the accuracy will likely be recognised by lighthouse enthusiasts too.

21335 Motorised Lighthouse launches on September 1 for £264.99 / $299.99 / €299.99, one month before 21336 The Office is released.
