October 1, 2024 is looking likely to be another potentially wallet-busting day for most, with multiple sets due to arrive online and in stores. Included in that line-up are the first LEGO Wednesday, Wicked and Fortnite models, alongside this year’s LEGO Winter Village offerings.
With so many amazing builds to choose from, deciding which sets to pick up might well prove to be a bit of a head-scratcher. However, when it comes to the best minifigures and mini-dolls (plus one droid) to purchase, here are six LEGO models that should definitely be on your shopping list.
75684 Welcome to Emerald City

With the first instalment of Wicked playing on big screens around the world from tomorrow, the release of four LEGO sets based on the movie couldn’t have been timed better. Of those, 75684 Welcome to Emerald City is the largest and most impressive of the builds, coming in at £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99 for 945 pieces.
Included in the LEGO Wicked set are five mini-dolls, with Glinda and Elphaba being the standout characters. Both the future Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West boast detailed torsos and skirt printing, with Elphaba’s striking green face and hands perfectly matching her live-action look.
77073 Battle Bus

Video game fans seem to have been waiting an age for LEGO Fortnite sets to appear, but now the first wave of four models is almost here. Of those, only 77073 Battle Bus includes any minifigures, with nine such characters included with the £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99 build.
From the diverse selection of minifigures accompanying the LEGO Fortnite set, it’s ultimately Adventure Peely that proves to be a must-have. The fan-favourite character features spot-on printing on his banana body and legs, replicating the hapless fruit’s on-screen appearance in exacting detail.
76328 Batman: The Classic TV Series Batmobile

With Batman Day 2024 now done and dusted, fans have less than a week left before they can finally purchase
The LEGO DC set is priced at £129.99 / $149.99 / €149.99 and for that you’re getting a 1,822-piece recreation of the 1960s car, complete with what we think is the best Adam West Batman minifigure to date. Now all we need is a new and matching TV version of Burt Ward’s Robin and the model would truly be complete…
21352 Magic of Disney

Based on a winning LEGO Ideas creation from fan designer 2A2A, 21352 Magic of Disney will launch on October 1 for £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99. The 1,103-piece set features a large brick-built version of Mickey Mouse in full sorcerer’s apprentice outfit that acts as a backdrop to a number of mini diorama scenes based on classic Disney animated films.
The four minifigures that come with 21352 Magic of Disney are ideal for rounding out two existing LEGO CMF series, thanks to the inclusion of Geppetto from Pinocchio and Lilo from Lilo & Stitch. In addition, you’re also getting the first-ever minifigures of Beauty and the Beast’s Belle and Bruno as seen in Encanto.
76781 Wednesday & Enid’s Dorm Room

Fans of the smash hit Netflix series will no doubt be eager to pick up all three LEGO Wednesday sets when they arrive online and in stores next week. While only
Coming in at £79.99 / $89.99 / €89.99, the LEGO Wednesday build features two versions of Wednesday and Enid, alongside a selection of extras and accessories hidden in secret drawers. All four mini-dolls do a good job of recreating their live-action counterparts, with their alternate light and dark looks lining up well with the décor of each of the girl’s rooms.
40755 Imperial Dropship vs. Rebel Scout Speeder

There’s one final LEGO Star Wars 25th anniversary set on the way in 2024 and it includes the last of seven special edition characters created to mark the theme’s quarter of a century. 40755 Imperial Dropship vs. Rebel Scout Speeder can be yours for £34.99 / $39.99 / €39.99 and for that you’re looking at 383 pieces with which to create two vehicles, six minifigures and one droid figure.
While the stormtroopers and Rebel Fleet Troopers in the LEGO Star Wars set will certainly prove handy for army building, it’s the QT-KT figure that will be the main reason most will pick up the set. The first all-pink astromech to date, the character is based on R2-KT, created by 501st Legion founder Albin Johnson’s for his daughter Katie, who tragically passed away from brain cancer in 2005.
The highlight of 40755 Imperial Dropship vs. Rebel Scout Speeder is the perfect way to cap of the LEGO Star Wars theme’s 25th anniversary, by offering up one last obscure and exclusive character that all fans should add to their October 2024 shopping basket.
