LEGO NINJAGO 71791 Zane’s Dragon Power Spinjitzu Race Car review
LEGO NINJAGO 71791 Zane’s Dragon Power Spinjitzu Race Car is a sleek vehicle for the ninja of ice, but it’s ironically not that great at sliding.
While its main function is to drift with the help of the new dragon cores, the upcoming 71791 Zane’s Dragon Power Spinjitzu Race Car misses the mark in its playability – but there’s more to this set than its functions.
71791 Zane’s Dragon Power Spinjitzu Race Car is more affordable than most NINJAGO Dragons Rising sets, with a competitive minifigure count to boot, and comes in as one summer 2023 set worth a second glance.

— Where to buy LEGO NINJAGO 71791 Zane’s Dragon Power Spinjitzu Race Car —
71791 Zane’s Dragon Power Spinjitzu Race Car is launching on June 1, 2023, for £29.99 / $34.99 / €34.99 and you can expect to find the car, a pair of hover flyers, a droid and four minifigures.
— LEGO NINJAGO 71791 Zane’s Dragon Power Spinjitzu Race Car build —
The main play feature of 71791 Zane’s Dragon Power Spinjitzu Race Car is the ability to lift the wheels in one smooth function and, theoretically, use the dragon cores to drift the car along the floor. However, this feature doesn’t quite work as advertised on both hard and soft surfaces. Either the rear rubber tyres catch the ground and ruin the effect or the cores fail to spin, providing some resistance.

Thankfully, it’s relatively easy to ignore this feature and focus on the sleek and masterful shaping. It’s a simply gorgeous model to admire and the design team even managed to fit in an elemental engine that looks oddly similar to Zane’s power source. Fingers crossed this is a replica, as otherwise Zane might be in trouble.

Strangely, this set has some of the most Imperium representation of the entire wave with a pair of hover flyers and a droid. While admittedly this is quantity over quality, it shines a light on just how diminished their presence is in the Dragons Rising models.
Their increased forces here offer more opportunity for play and though the flyers are simple, they work well. 71791 Zane’s Dragon Power Spinjitzu Race Car‘s main feature might not function exactly as intended, but the rest of the model manages to pick up the slack.
— LEGO NINJAGO 71791 Zane’s Dragon Power Spinjitzu Race Car characters —
With four minifigures, 71791 Zane’s Dragon Power Spinjitzu Race Car has a great character selection compared to other Dragons Rising models. Both of the new helmet elements are featured here for the Imperium minifigures and that presents a great opportunity to quickly catch up on most of the new NINJAGO elements in the summer 2023 selection.

The minifigure designs all feature intricate printing, though none are exclusive to this set. Those getting the full wave won’t need to worry about any specific minifigures in 71791 Zane’s Dragon Power Spinjitzu Race Car, but the included cast offers plenty of opportunities for roleplay and creating some genuinely cool scenes.

The Imperium minifigures stand out more than Zane or Cole, and they’re a welcome addition to the theme with an aesthetic unlike anything seen before in the world of NINJAGO.
— LEGO NINJAGO 71791 Zane’s Dragon Power Spinjitzu Race Car price —
The price of 71791 Zane’s Dragon Power Spinjitzu Race Car feels perfectly fair in all regions at £29.99 / $34.99 / €34.99, with plenty of content in the box to appreciate and enjoy, both while building and playing with it.
Unlike other LEGO NINJAGO Dragons Rising sets, another minifigure or build is not required as the value is perfect just as it is.

When images of the new NINJAGO sets were revealed, 71791 Zane’s Dragon Power Spinjitzu Race Car felt like an easy one to overlook – but do so at your own peril. The latest vehicle for Zane may be one of the best yet, despite the main function not quite working as designed.
That only speaks to the quality of the rest of this model, which stands a good chance of becoming Dragons Rising’s most underrated set…

There are a few cars in NINJAGO, but the closest to the price point of 71791 Zane’s Dragon Power Spinjitzu Race Car are 71763 Lloyd’s Race Car EVO and 71769 Cole’s Dragon Cruiser. Neither can drift, but then Zane’s car doesn’t excel at it either.
