Marvel Studios offers first look at upcoming Disney+ shows

Marvel Studios recently revealed first looks at a selection of upcoming streaming series as part of Disney+ Day, offering an idea of what to expect.

Disney+ Day has come and gone for 2021, with the platform’s second anniversary bringing us previews at a selection of upcoming shows from Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel.

The latter received a full 13 minute-long video showcasing what is currently available on the service as well as what is yet to come. While most projects received an updated logo or official reveal, a few were depicted with clips, which be giving us our first look at potential minifigure designs, considering that every available Disney+ series so far has at least one minifigure thanks in no small part to 71031 Marvel Studios.

Moon Knight

Moon Knight was the first to be featured after a clip from Hawkeye with Oscar Isaac depicting Marc Spector, who will eventually become the titular superhero.

Only one scene features what appears to be the outfit for the character with most other scenes featuring Marc being confused or terrified of his surroundings. In it, we see a figure with a white cape and hood in front of a smashed mirror, in an equally smashed bathroom. Both aspects would be easily recreated in a minifigure.

She-Hulk

She-Hulk has appeared as a minifigure once before in 76078 Hulk vs. Red Hulk, with an outfit strongly resembling the comic costume coloured purple and white.

The preview offered in the announcement video reveals a look similar to this with green skin, hair and a suit featuring white, purple and the addition of black. A full view of the character has not been shown yet, though it’s likely to be close to the comic and minifigure counterpart judging by the first look.

Ms. Marvel

Ms. Marvel is coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the summer of 2022 with the video showcasing a sizzle reel of footage from the show. Multiple scenes feature a look at what might be the beginnings of the character’s costume with clear inspiration from Captain Marvel.

She too has been represented as a minifigure before in 76076 Captain America Jet Pursuit with a unique element representing her stretching ability. However, a final shot features Kamala running on platforms that apparate beneath her feet, which may be from a gadget that could be depicted through LEGO bricks.

I Am Groot

Very little was shown for I Am Groot with the series not yet given a release date. It will explore the origins of the Guardian of the Galaxy in his early days growing up, with a new form of the character featuring a foliage wig and leaf muscles.

Whether the LEGO Group would represent this series at all is unclear, but given the popularity of Groot, it may be plausible. The character has received several brick-built iterations before from a baby-sized piece to a much larger figure.

Secret Invasion

Rounding out the announcements was a look at Nick Fury in the upcoming Secret Invasion series. For those unfamiliar with the comics, Secret Invasion is a narrative arc that sees the superheroes of the Marvel Universe fending off a Skrull invasion while their allies are replaced by imposters around them.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Skrulls featured in Captain Marvel as a species aided by the hero and Nick Fury as they look for a new home, returning in a later post-credits scene to showcase a giant technologically-advanced space station.

Nick Fury was the only element of this show to be included in the announcement video without his eye patch and with a thick beard. This could be an inspiration for an updated minifigure of the character, though this is not confirmed with the series not yet having a release date.
