Another LEGO stadium may be coming in 2021

LEGO 10272 Old Trafford may be getting a follow-up this year, with another stadium rumoured for a 2021 release.

The news comes courtesy of Eurobricks user VanIslandLego, who apparently reported the rumour to YouTuber Brother From Another Brick. Given the same user was behind the initial reports of 10276 Colosseum and 10274 Ghostbusters ECTO-1 – both of which have now materialised as official sets – the idea of a new LEGO stadium may be more than just wild speculation.

If it does turn out to be true, it would indicate that 2020’s 10272 Old Trafford has sold well – at least well enough to generate a follow-up set. It’s not yet clear whether the new stadium will also revolve around football (or soccer, if you prefer), or another sport, like American football, hockey or basketball.

In fact, the word ‘stadium’ is pretty much all we have to go on at the moment, but precedent suggests it will at least be a microscale model, and likely a large, expensive direct-to-consumer set as a result. Remember, though, this is still just a rumour, regardless of the source – and as such, should be taken very lightly until we receive official confirmation from the LEGO Group.

This isn’t the only LEGO set rumoured to be releasing later this year: again according to VanIslandLego, the second half of 2021 will also see a LEGO Titanic model sail on to shelves.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
