Bad news: retiring LEGO 71040 The Disney Castle is sold out

It’s the end of an era for a huge LEGO Disney set as 71040 The Disney Castle has finally sold out worldwide after over six years on shelves.

Since our stock update yesterday, December 8, 2022, 71040 The Disney Castle’s status in the UK and Europe has changed from ‘temporarily out of stock’ to ‘sold out’ signalling that time is officially up to pick up a copy of the Walt Disney World set.

Recreating Cinderella’s Castle from the Magic Kingdom theme park in Florida, 71040 The Disney Castle’s updated stock status is the same as other models before it that usually have any further restocks before their retirement and with that the end of 2022 approaching, it looks to be the end for the colossal castle build.

With the start of the double VIP points event earlier today, it’s not surprising the set move from ‘temporarily out of stock’ to ‘sold out’ as a sudden restock may have prompted the final sales of 71040 The Disney Castle with double cashback and several GWPs.

For now, time is up for 71040 The Disney Castle but if the set does manage to return one final time to LEGO.com before the end of the year, and especially before the double VIP points event ends, we at Brick Fanatics will be sure to update you.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.

It was strange that although already sold out the LEGO GB website on 01/01/23 was showing the set discounted 30% (and sold out) yet on 08/12/22 when already sold out it was showing at full price.
Is this advertising from LEGO showing what might have been though not available so disappointing to AFOL.
