Big changes coming to the LEGO VIP scheme

The LEGO VIP scheme is getting a revamp, with the LEGO Group teasing the new version of the rewards program.

It is a good while since the LEGO Stores ditched the paper card and stamps in favour of a plastic card linked to an online account. Fans are now accustomed to racking up points as they make purchases at shop.LEGO.com and LEGO Brand Store, but changes are on the way – according to a marketing e-mail, the revamped VIP scheme will offer “more points”, “awesome exclusives” and “epic LEGO experiences”.

There is not much detail yet, it is just a tease, but the following information has been shared:

We updated how your points add up so you can get more rewards. And we’ve unlocked more ways to earn points every day.

Build Your Rewards
We made your points more flexible than ever. You can still get the discounts you love, but now you can also get experiences and members-only gifts no matter how many points you have.

All New Rewards Centre
When you want to use points for a discount, just visit the all new Rewards Centre, choose how many points you want to use, then get a code for your discount. Easy!

While more rewards sounds positive and special experience could be interesting, having to arrange a discount code every time a fan might want to buy something sounds like it could be cumbersome. How this stacks up compared to the current VIP offering will become clear when further details are shared by the LEGO Group.
