Last chance to buy nostalgia-fuelled LEGO Icons 90th anniversary Galaxy Explorer

Time is running out to pick up LEGO Icons‘ 90th-anniversary Classic Space set at a discount, despite the set’s retirement, at Walmart now.

10497 Galaxy Explorer is still in stock at Walmart for more than $10 off following its retirement at the end of 2023. This build was designed specially for the 90th anniversary of the LEGO Group and commemorates its history with a modern recreation of one of the most iconic classic LEGO sets – 497 Galaxy Explorer.

The new 10497 Galaxy Explorer is much bigger than the original LEGO Classic Space set and everything from its larger pieces to its stickers has been upscaled expertly for a nostalgic building experience. You can find out more in our in-depth review.

Four classic astronaut minifigures are included alongside a rover, robot and the giant ship itself. Inside 10497 Galaxy Explorer is the cockpit with seating, an indoor area with a rooftop window and another indoor area.

The retired 10497 Galaxy Explorer is available for $89.49 instead of $99.99 at Walmart now but as this set is retired, it is unlikely to be restocked once it sells out.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.

Just a FYI : I ordered mine about 4 months ago from Walmart and just got it. 1 month pas estimate. It didn’t offer tracking. The korean airline sticker on it might be the explanation.

Packing looked a bit rough but inside the box was fully bubble wrapped and in pristine condition.

    Loved the build.
